27th August 2013 - The Last Cupcake

We know there were many of you out there who spent the weekend baking and selling (and eating) cupcakes to raise money - with your efforts we raised a total of $5000!
There was fantastic involvement from the community and staff here alike, we know that many of you out there worked hard baking and selling (and eating) cupcakes over the weekend.

 

14th August 2013 - Stopping the Cycle of Domestic Violence

We believe that education is a key tool for stopping the cycle of domestic violence.
Every year Norm Hewitt will travel the country with RNZSPCA to give talks targeted at years 7 and 8. Hewitt crafts his presentations effectively for children as well as parents and teachers by filling it with animated stories and humour, before tieing in the serious stuff.

 

13th August 2013 - Veterinary Article in Vetscript Magazine

A two page spread in the VetScript magazine features the Private Veterinary Clinic at our Newtown Centre and covers some of our initiatives for reducing the unwanted pet population in the community. Our Practice Manager Monique is interviewed.

19th August 2013 - Our Lonely Hearts Member Adopted!

The beautiful Cully came into our care at the age of 2 months in September 2012. She was adopted in August, just shy of a year here! Yay Cully! Her new name is Lily.

 

23rd June 2013 - $6000 Target Suprassed! Go Team.

Wellington SPCA staff and volunteers participated in the Tough Guy and Gal challenge, raising a total of nearly $7000 to go towards our REHOME project.

 

17th June 2013 - Wellington SPCA Against Animal Testing!

Wellington SPCA does not support animal testing of these substances.  We believe there are alternatives available and therefore animal testing is unnecessary and avoidable. We signed the petition against this proposed animal testing and we remain committed to this view.

25th May 2013 - Name Your Price Adoption Event

The chance for the public to negotiate what they think is a fair price to pay for a pet after being in our care. Normal adoption criteria still apply. All animals are vaccinated, desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and fleaed and vet checked before adoption.

13th May 2013 - Third Time Award Winning Life Savers

Wellington SPCA is proud to have an extremely high life saving rate of the animals in our care. Continued support from the community has enabled us to set the standard in animal welfare, and lead the way for saving lives

7th May 2013 - Better Home and Living Show

Thanks to Jade Promotions we had a free spot at the Better Home and Living Show, Westpac Stadium on May 3rd, 4th, 5th! This was a great opportunity for us to let the public know about our REHOME project and what it will mean for the community.

 

24th May 2013 - Op Shop Number 6 grand opening in Kilbirnie

We now have a total of 6 Op Shops across the Wellington Region!
Petone, Lower Hutt, Waikanae, Johnsonville, Newtown and Kilbirnie.

1st March 2013 - Our Inspector Ritchie Dawson deployed to Solomon Islands for WSPA

Saturday 9th February 2013 Chief Inspector Ritchie Dawson was deployed to join the WSPA Disaster Assessment Response Team to the Soloman Islands following the massive earthquake and the subsequent Tsunami.
